At Mello World, your pet’s comfort, safety, and wellbeing always come first. Severe matting can cause pain, skin damage, and stress, and requires careful handling.
Assessment
• If matting is present, the groomer will determine the safest and most humane grooming approach.
You will be given two options:
1. We shave the coat and start again.
2. We use the appointment time to achieve the best possible result, which may include de-matting and if time allows a wash and tidy or a wash and go service.
Both will be charged as a full groom due to the time taken.
A follow-up appointment will be required to finish the groom.
De-Matting & Shaving
• De-matting is time-consuming and can be uncomfortable.
• We will not carry out extensive de-matting if it risks pain, injury, or distress.
• In cases of severe matting, shaving may be the only safe and humane option.
Welfare First
• If a pet becomes stressed, uncomfortable, or unsafe to groom, the session may be stopped early.
Aftercare & Responsibility
• Owners are responsible for maintaining their pets coat between grooms.
• We strongly recommend regular grooming and at-home brushing to prevent matting.
• Pets that repeatedly arrive severely matted will be declined future bookings.
No Guaranteed Style
• Due to coat condition, specific styles or lengths cannot be guaranteed on matted pets.
